LACP Bonding on Ubuntu 14.04/16.04

Before you proceed with the configuration of bonding, ensure ifenslave is installed.

apt install ifenslave

Use your favourite text editor to open the network interfaces file.

nano /etc/network/interfaces

Ensure the file looks identical to the template below, making sure to adjust the interfacesip addressnetmask and gateway ip to your servers' needs.

# The loopback network interface auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet manual
bond-master bond0

auto eth1
iface eth1 inet manual
bond-master bond0

# The primary network interface
auto bond0
iface bond0 inet static
address 192.168.1.2
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.254
dns-nameservers 77.247.176.114 77.247.176.115 85.159.238.17

To bring the changes into effect and activate the new bond, bring up (take down) each of the interfaces.
