Adding the HPE Management Component Pack repository to Debian based systems

Create the a new file in the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ folder named mcp.list using your favourite text editor. In the example below the text editor 'nano' is used.

nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mcp.list

The following line would have to be added to this configuration file, but it has to be altered depending on your system.

deb http://downloads.linux.hpe.com/SDR/repo/mcp dist/project_ver non-free

Where:
dist = bionic, xenial, trusty, precise, stretch, jessie, squeeze, wheezy
project_ver = current, 11.21, 11.05, 10.80, 10.60, 10.50, 10.40, 9.50, 9.40, 9.25

Distributions explained:
bionic = Ubuntu 18.04
xenial = Ubuntu 16.04
trusty = Ubuntu 14.04
precise = Ubuntu 12.04
stretch = Debian 9
jessie = Debian 8
wheezy = Debian 7
squeeze = Debian 6

For the project versions, it is almost always recommended to opt for the 'current' option unless you are running into issues.

As example, for Ubuntu 16.04, this would the result in the following line,

deb http://downloads.linux.hpe.com/SDR/repo/mcp xenial/current non-free

To allow for your system to use a secure way of verifying the packages are from the correct source, a public key would have to be installed as below.

curl http://downloads.linux.hpe.com/SDR/hpePublicKey2048_key1.pub | apt-key add -

For the system to be able to find and install the utilities available in this repository, the local cache would have to be updated.

apt update

You may now install any of the packages using 'apt'.

apt install 'package name'
